Dr. Meltzer with Bereket, Alebachew, Melaku and Seife
In April 2019, Drs. Meltzer and Hitchon visited Black Lion (Tikur Anbessa) Hospital in Addis Ababa, each for two weeks. This program was a continuation of our visiting professor initiative: introducing rheumatology to medical residents in Ethiopia through an intense four-week program covering didactics, case presentations, in-patient consultations and supervision in a rheumatology clinic. At the completion of this program, the medical residents share their knowledge with their junior colleagues, accordingly encouraging the blossoming of interest and knowledge about rheumatology in Ethiopia.
